Scissor Cozies

For the last week, I have been sewing each weekend day and each weekday evening. I’m in the thick of Christmas gifts and making product for a local craft mall. One of the smaller pouches I’ve been making are scissor cozies. I’ve been doing them QAYG (quilt as you go) style. I grab a scrap box and make a QAYG panel big enough to cut two cozy front panels out of it. Pick out some lining fabric and a piece of fabric big enough for the back panel and go to town making a zippered cozy pouch. I use batting for both the front and back panels for interfacing.

I wish I could say I came up with the idea or pattern, but I didn’t. I found the free scissor cozy pattern and tutorial from Sotak Handmade. Svetlana Sotak does a lot of QAYG with her zipper pouches and she has some wonderful patterns available in her Etsy shop. One of my favorites is the Drawstring Bag pattern. I’ve used it quite a few times.

Here’s my weekly shout out to Cheryl Sleboda of She’s the organizer of this 31 Day Blog Writing Challenge. Check out her website and blog for more bloggers participating in the challenge. Who knows, you may find a new favorite blog to read.

Happy creating!
