Hello!
2025 was the year of clutter in my sewing space. It went from bad to worse to worst. With some help from my mom and some time, I tackled the space and we were able to host 11 people including myself for Christmas Day dinner. We had 7 people at our main dining table and then a second table in the sewing area for four people. The floor was clear, even though everything is not in its place, I call it a win.
To continue on the declutter and cleaning trend, I’m doing the Just Get It Done Quilts Declutter Challenge for January. Karen has done this challenge for the last several years and I started to do it last year and it dropped off. I’m hoping to complete most of it this year and have a cleaner more organized space. I’d like fabric and notions in places that make sense to me. To follow along and see all the Declutter Challenge prompts you can visit Karen’s website where you can sign up to get a daily email and/or watch the daily video on her YouTube channel.
Today I picked up trash and cleared/cleaned up my sewing desk and around my sewing machine. I’m including a couple pics of before and after. Before, I had an overflowing amount of stuff on the desk that my sewing machine shares with the printer. After, most things I put in their place and I’m able to shift my sewing machine to the side a bit so I can use my laptop on the desk, as well. I have 2 sewing desks and I did not tackle the other one. That’s on my list tomorrow so I can move my desks around. I’d like to shift them into an L shape. At the same time, while I have the desks away from the walls and windows, I’m going to replace the blinds with some curtains.

This last picture is of the large bag of textile waste I’m collecting. My mom told me about a service called Just Porch It and they take a variety of items to recycle. Check their website for more info on what they take and if they’re in your area. I don’t collect a lot of small scraps, it makes my head spin, so they will be collected in this bag until it’s full and I can have Just Porch It pick it up.

I don’t have any specific goals or aspirations for my creative endeavors or my personal life for 2026. I think the main overarching idea is to get out and do stuff and try as much creative stuff as possible. I’d like to spend less time on my phone.
Happy creating!
Camille
I’ve never heard of Just Porch It. Thanks for the tip!
