Quilt Guild Sew Day

Hello!

This past weekend was the Corvallis Modern Quilt Guild’s Sew Day. This is the first time in a long time that I’ve been able to attend sew day. I like it because I get to spread out and have several hours of uninterrupted sewing time. For this month’s sew day I focused on making items for an upcoming market that I’m participating in. I wish I had everything cut but it didn’t happen. I cut out some pillows when I arrived and went to work. I decided to use a gradation of hand dyed fabrics from dark purple to pink. The other pillow I made was ice dyed in pink and purple and it was a pretty dynamic looking piece of fabric. I wish I had taken more pictures. I cut up the whole half yard into strips and made more hearts.

All other making is on hold until I am finished making for the upcoming market and I may be making til the very the day before the market. Next project after this love themed market is name tag holders for retreat in March. I have 20 to make but the pattern is fairly easy and I can make one in a couple hours. The free pattern is from By Annie and is called Call Me. It not only has a vinyl sleeve for the name tag on the front but also has a mesh pocket on the back for your cell phone. I’ll get lots of practice applying bias binding by machine as it is how the edges are finished and creates the strap that goes around your neck. I’ve already made one for myself and I used really cute horse fabric I found at a LQS a while back. Can’t wait to sort through my stash to find other fabric combos for name tag holders.

Happy creating!

Camille
