Sew Sassy

Hello!

IMG_4668I’m behind on everything and didn’t do a whole lot this past week in terms of making or binding quilts. What I did do this past week is make two Sew Sassy Thread Catchers. The pattern is from Curry Bungalow on Etsy. I really enjoyed making the pattern and the instructions and pictures were clear. There are a lot of steps so it does take some time but it turned out wonderfully.
I haven’t stuffed the first one I made so it’s not quite complete. The second one I did (picture at left), I used a plain square of fabric for the pincushion instead of paper piecing the top. I can’t wait to make more for my friends.

I took on another Quilt Along last week. I know, I shouldn’t have done it but I love the pattern. This one is called the Sienna Burst QAL and is put on by the pattern designer, Then Came June. I picked out most of the fabrics from my stash but had to supplement with a few fat quarters from my LQS. We’re onto week 3 today and last week I spent some time cutting. Typically cutting wouldn’t take that long but I’m following the directions and starching everything because there’s bias edges with the Half Rectangle Triangles and Half Square Triangles that will be made. Starching takes longer so I did a little bit of starching and cutting each day last week. I’m doing the throw size quilt so I picked 16 fat quarters plus an off white background. Here are my fabric selections.

The last Project Quilting challenge dropped yesterday. This is challenge 6 and the last one of the season. The theme is Scraptastic. I spent part of yesterday thinking about whether or not I was going to do the challenge even though I had an idea. I didn’t finish challenges three and four and also opted out of five so I wasn’t sure if I wanted to take on another challenge this week. In the end I decided, yes, I’d like to do it but to not do something terribly elaborate. I’ll be making a scrappy stars pillow for this go round and I started cutting my background pieces last night. I love pillows so I hope this challenge will go together quickly.

Happy Quilting!

Camille
