Welcoming 2018!

Today is the last day of the 31 Day Blog Writing Challenge and I’m so happy I participated in it. Many thanks to Cheryl Sleboda of Muppin.com for hosting this for the third year in a row. I’ll definitely sign up again next year if she hosts it again.

Unfortunately, I missed a week of blog posts because I came down with a bad cold and didn’t do much of anything at all except rest and re-watch Gilmore Girls on Netflix. I’m at the end of Season 3 right now.

Writing almost everyday was really tough but it helped me reflect and also plan what I wanted to do creatively the next day, week, month, and now into the new year. I work best on a schedule and the last seven months I’ve been without a schedule and motivation. I also had a health hiccup over the summer and that contributed to less crafting and posting on the blog. I’ve been feeling better since August and hope to continue to feel better going forward. I want to publicly thank my husband, friends and my mom who helped me through this rough patch. I couldn’t have gotten back to my old self without their help.

I do have some goals for next year and you can call them resolutions if you want but here they are…

  1. Experiment more in my sewing by stepping outside of my comfort zone of the written pattern. I have notebooks full of drawings and notes about different ideas just sitting there for my own quilts and I haven’t done a thing with them because I don’t know where to start.
  2. Experiment with hand dyed fabrics including eco print and natural dyes. I have already done dyeing with fiber reactive dyes but I’d like to use them more in my quilts along with experimenting with natural dyes.
  3. Train for and walk a 5k. I have been inactive for far too long and I have a lot of exploring to do.
  4. Blog! I’m still on the fence as to whether to try blogging once a week or every other week. Taking part in the blog challenge let me figure out that I didn’t have enough content to post everyday. It would take a lot of planning to be able to post everyday and I want most of my day to be filled with sewing and dog snuggling.

Have a Happy New Year and Best Wishes for 2018!

Camille
