Hello!

A project that I was particularly drawn to is making a representation of birch trees with improv piecing and striped fabrics. I’ve chosen black and white for the birch trees and a textured blue fabric for the background.

I randomly cut a handful of strips without a ruler and it turns out I’m cutting things too wide for this practice piece. The birch trees turned out a little squat so lesson learned that I need to let things be longer than I think and trim them down as needed. This is why it’s practice, I need to have that trial and error.

I’m going to have another go at it and see what I come up with. Maybe I’ll be able to find a different stripe fabric in my stash. I used a fabric that has a ruler print on it for the bark accent.
